Punt, Pass and Kick Competition

This week we will be hosting our annual Punt, Pass and Kick competition during Fan Fest. It will be from 3 to 6 on the practice field for ages 8 to 15. Local winner to go on to sectionals in Tremonton, Utah and sectional winners go on to a Denver Bronco's game in Denver Colorado.

Grantsville vs. Morgan and Juan Diego

The first two weeks of our Region schedule had us matching up with not only the top two teams in our region, but the two top teams in the 3A classification. Region 11 in which we are members of is the "elite" region in 3A. Our region has produced 6 out of the last 7 State Champions. The only team having won State not in our region is Juan Diego; who won the State Championship last year and is now a member of Region 11.

Both of the games were hard fought, but we found ourselves on the losing end of both of them. Morgan winning 35 to 21 and Juan Diego winning 35 to 7.

Now we take a week off from Region play and battle our county rival: Tooele at Cowboy Stadium. Bring your voice boxes!!!

Thanks for your support,
Coach Tony Cloward

Friday Night FAN FEST

Fan Fest has definitely caught on here at GHS! By 5:00 all the tailgating spots were filled and the grills were smokin'. The DJ kept the action going and even got the crowd line dancing. The team tunnel appears to be getting bigger and better each week. There were some huge smiles and maybe a few tears of pride from our football players as they made their way through.
The newest highlight was from the gals at The Hair Hut. They showed up with all their beauty chairs, ready and willing to carve a "G" in the back of any head who wanted it. Talk about Cowboy Pride!!
It seems Cowboy Stadium really is the place to be on Friday nights!
See you this week at Fan Fest ... 5:00 sharp!

Grantsville vs. Millard

Week three of the Cowboy Football season took a different direction than most expected.

We hosted Millard in Cowboy Stadium. Millard is one of the elite football programs in the state regardless of classification. They have the second most State Championships, second only to Skyline High of Salt Lake City. They were up on us 19 to 0 before we woke-up. Afterwards, it was a hard fought battle losing to Millard 33 to 14. A close friend of mine said it best when he said, "You didn't play bad you played young." Since the opening kick off against Wasatch our youth and lack of experience have been our challenge. Like in the Wasatch game our boys grew up and learned a lot that night.

As a coaching staff we believe pre-season is a time for growth and learning. The cowboy squad has done this. After the Millard game we had a bye last week; we have used the time to prepare for our long time rival Morgan. We will be ready for the battle that exists when these two teams take the field against one another. You don't want to miss this one.

Thanks for Your Support,
Coach Tony Cloward

Friday Night FAN FEST
bigger and better!

The GRANTSVILLE FAITHFUL showed their hometown pride when they came out in droves to participate in last weeks Fan Fest. Tailgating spots were at a premium as many of little league football teams chose to BBQ and celebrate what they will one day become... GHS football players! Incredible energy was bought by alumni football player, Dillon Hurst and his band. They lured many to come, join the fun. From the time they sang "Should've been a Cowboy" to the Millard Eagles... until the full to capacity stands emptied... you could feel that COWBOY PRIDE was back in full swing!

Be sure to join us at 5:00 this Friday night for another great Fan Fest!
  • New this week: Class Competitions and HAIRCUTS. Yes, you heard us right, HAIRCUTS! You'll want to see what that is all about.
  • First come, first serve "True Tailgating" spots.
  • Music, food, games, face painting and performances by our beautiful girls
  • Wear your Cowboy gear or purchase some there to be entered into the free drawing.
  • Don't miss the TEAM TUNNEL at 6:00!

Take advantage of the opportunity to show Morgan that the place to be on a Friday night is... COWBOY STADIUM!

The team would love to hear from YOU!

Hometown Pride is... BACK!

Grantsville vs. North Sanpete

The home opener against North Sanpete went AWESOME!

It started with a terrific tailgating party by the Grantsville faithful. Next the cheerleaders welcomed us to the field with their new dance number "Bring Em Out!" Then the guys took care of the rest of the night by beating the Hawks in dominate fashion. The Cowboys racked up a total of 392 total yards of offense.

We still have work to do but as a coaching staff we like the continual improvements the team is showing. Thanks to all who helped make August 28 a special night.
